Downtown turn restrictions expected to go into effect early next week


Motorists traveling through downtown Powell will soon see signs in place to prohibit left turns from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily at the Olentangy and Liberty Street intersection. The signs are expected to be installed by the City’s Public Service Department early next week, weather permitting.

Child Passenger Safety Week: Sept. 15-21


To help keep children safe on our roads, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is sponsoring Child Passenger Safety Week from September 15-21, 2019. The goal is to make sure your child is in the correct car seat, that it’s properly installed and used, and that it’s registered with its manufacturer to ensure you receive important safety updates.

Bike Path Closure


The bike path that connects Rutherford Estates to the new Seldom Seen Park will be closed for paving starting Wednesday, Sept. 18 through this weekend.

Stephen Hrytzik to be named Chief of Police


Interim Chief of Police Stephen Hrytzik will be sworn in as the Chief of Police during the next City Council meeting at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 17 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.

Karen Sybert appointed to serve as City’s new Finance Director


City Council appointed Karen Sybert as the City’s new Finance Director during last night’s meeting. Karen will start her new role with the City on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

No left turns – 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily


Powell City Council unanimously approved an ordinance to extend the time frame for restricted left turns at the Olentangy and Liberty Street intersection from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. The extended time frame will go into effect within 4-6 weeks. This will allow time for signage to be ordered and installed

City Council considers extending left turn restriction hours


Powell City Council will hold the second reading of an ordinance that proposes extending the time frame for restricted left turns at the Olentangy and Liberty Street intersection from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. daily. 

Steitz Road Closure


Steitz Road will be closed in front of the new Carpenter’s Mill subdivision for roadway improvements starting Monday, Aug. 5 through Friday, Sept. 20, weather permitting.

City Manager announces retirement


City Manager Steve Lutz plans to retire from the City of Powell after serving as its manager since 1996.
