(POWELL, Ohio)–Aug. 21, 2019–City Council appointed Karen Sybert as the City’s new Finance Director during last night’s meeting. Karen will start her new role with the City on Tuesday, Sept. 3.
Karen has served as the Assistant Treasurer for the Shaker Heights School District since 2009. Prior to working with Shaker Heights School District, Karen served as the Treasurer for the Berkshire Local School District and the Rootstown Local School District.
“We’re excited to welcome Karen to the City of Powell,” said City Manager Steve Lutz. “Karen is an accomplished finance professional with a strong knowledge and foundation in accounting, financial management and budgeting.”
Karen received a Bachelor of Arts in Business Management from Hiram College.
The City of Powell is proud of its strong financial operations and fiscal responsibility. The City has been awarded with Standard & Poor’s ‘AAA’ with a stable outlook bond rating since 2013 and has received several accolades from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).
