Parks & Recreation Department plans Childcare Showcase


The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department is planning the first-ever Powell Childcare Showcase from 10 a.m.-noon Monday, June 5. The Childcare Showcase will be held in conjunction with the first Lolli-Pops! Summer Children’s Concert.

In 2016, the Police Department went through the Gold Standard assessment and was awarded with the Meritorious Advanced Accreditation for Law Enforcement with Excellence during CALEA’s conference on Saturday, March 25.

Powell Police arrest burglary suspect


The Powell Police Department was dispatched on a report of a burglary in progress at approximately 3:22 a.m. Saturday, March 25 on Francine Lane.

Powell Police looking for jewelry theft suspects


The Powell Police Department is searching for two suspects that entered Kimberly’s Diamond Corner and stole approximately $13,000 worth of jewelry, including one ring and several watches.

The theft occurred at approximately 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, March 22 at Kimberly’s Diamond Corner, 1 North Liberty Street.

Adventure Park railroad tunnel remains closed


The railroad tunnel leading from Adventure Park to Beechwood Park is closed indefinitely due to structural concerns. CSX has been on site to inspect the tunnel and is working with the City to determine next steps. A timeline for repair and reopening has not been determined at this time.

Delaware County Launches DELCO ALERT Mass-Notification System


The DELCO ALERT system, now available for sign-up on the county’s website, will send text and email alerts for severe weather events, and will send telephone, text and email alerts for emergency events like boil alerts and “shelter in place” warnings.
