Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony

10 a.m. Monday, May 25

Update: Parade postponed due to COVID-19 Pandemic

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic and the State of Ohio’s Stay Safe Order, the City has decided to postpone the annual Memorial Day Parade & Ceremony.

While the community may not be able to gather together and line the streets of downtown Powell as we have for the past several years for the parade, there is still an opportunity for the community to remember and reflect during Memorial Day weekend.

The Olentangy Rotary Club will continue to host the annual Field of Flags in Village Green Park throughout Memorial Day weekend – May 22-25. Nearly 100 flags will be placed in Village Green Park near the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial to honor our fallen heroes.

About the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial

DCIM112GOPRO

The Greater Powell Veterans Memorial Foundation was formed after a local soldier was killed in action in Iraq and members of the Powell community wanted a way to remember him and all veterans as well as express gratitude for their sacrifice.

The Memorial, located in Village Green Park, was built to honor all veterans past, present and future and is a place of reflection and remembrance. Ceremonies are held three times during each year at the Memorial. Bricks that are purchased for loved ones are dedicated on Memorial Day in May and Veterans Day in November.
