Program: Ohio Frontier Encampment presented by B J Basista, professional re-enactor.

J. Basista, professional re-enactor, will be setting up camp on the lawn of the Martin Perry house for a whole day of exploring our past from the Revolutionary War, into the Ohio frontier and beyond.  R. J. will be on hand all day to talk about our history and show us what it was like in times past.  There will be something for all ages – information, demonstrations, and hand on activities.

Come anytime during the day and stay as long as you like.  The day will culminate with a gathering by lantern light at dusk.

J. Basista has been doing re-enactments from the French and Indian War to Vietnam since he was 12 years old.  Most recently, he was a re-enactor at Colonial Williamsburg where he portrayed Wade Mountfort for several years.  At Williamsburg he gained expertise and knowledge of woodworking, hand sewn leather work, gardening for medicinal culinary purposes, tailoring, clothes dying and tobacco growing.  In addition, he learned to play 13 different instruments including fife and drum and participated in military re-enacting.  Throughout the day he will share some of his expertise with us.

Somehow, while working a fulltime job, raising 3 children, and a being an active member of the Honor Flight Organization, he finds time to share his passion for doing these encampments.  We are fortunate that he has offered to spend a day with us in Powell.

Come join us on Saturday October 13 for a step back into the past.  Bring the family for a fun and educational experience.
