Council Vacancy Announcement

Any citizen who has been a resident of the City of Powell for one (1) year may submit an e-mail to the City Clerk, Amy Deere, at adeere@cityofpowell.us by 5:00 p.m. Friday, September 2, 2022, indicating their desire and willingness to fill the unexpired term. City Council may choose to interview applicants and thereafter, a new council member will be appointed in accordance with the City’s Charter, from the list of individuals who have submitted an application to the Clerk. The person selected shall serve until the next regularly scheduled municipal election when a successor shall be chosen by the voters for the remainder of the unexpired term.

On Tuesday, August 16, City Council Member Frank Bertone resigned his seat on the City of Powell’s City Council effective immediately. Originally elected to the Council in November 2013, Mr. Bertone served as the City Mayor from 2020 to 2021. During his term as Mayor, Mr. Bertone led City Council in the search for a new City Manager, helped the City navigate through the COVID pandemic, and advocated for the City’s successful income tax restructuring ballot measure. He also served as the Chair of Council’s Operations Committee and Development Committee. Mr. Bertone’s term of office was originally set to expire December 31, 2025. The City of Powell thanks Mr. Bertone for his service and wishes him all the best in his future endeavors.
