Referendum petition approved

Powell City Council unanimously approved a resolution determining the sufficiency and validity of a referendum petition to repeal Ordinance 2015-18.

This ordinance includes the final development plan for Harper’s Pointe, a single family condominium gated community. Arlington Homes plans to construct 47 single family condominium homes on 8.75 acres off of Beech Ridge Drive. This site was home to the Powder Room Gun Shop & Target Range until last summer.

City Council unanimously approved this ordinance during the May 19, 2015 meeting and the final development plan was also unanimously approved by the Planning & Zoning Commission on March 11, 2015.

The referendum petition will be forwarded to the Delaware County Board of Elections to be placed on the November ballot.

Bid awarded for Street Maintenance Program

An ordinance to award a bid to Stawser Paving Co., Inc. in the amount of $661,422.88 for this year’s Street Maintenance Program was approved by City Council.

Highlights from this year’s program include a permanent right in-right out at Depot Street, pedestrian pathway repair between Grandshire Drive and Presidential Parkway as well as crack sealing in several neighborhoods throughout Powell.

City to purchase land from CSX

City Council approved an ordinance authorizing the City to enter into a real estate purchase and sale agreement with CSX to acquire a 0.21-acre parcel on Depot Street. This land will be used for the future queue cutter at the crossing as well as public parking spaces.
