Powell Police Department Promotes New Sergeants

On January 3, 2025, the City of Powell celebrated the promotion of two new Powell Police Department Sergeants.
Sgt. Ryan Pentz (right) has been with Powell Police Department since 2000 serving as a patrol officer and detective.
Over his career, Sgt. Pentz has completed numerous local, state, and federal training courses focused on investigations. He also earned an Associate degree in Criminal Justice from North Central State College.
Sgt. Pentz has been recognized with several honors:

"Top Cop of Delaware County" award by the Delaware County Prosecutor's Office (twice)

Sgt. Tyler McGraw (left) brings a diverse background and extensive experience to the Powell Police Department. He holds an Associate's degree in Law Enforcement Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Ohio University and is a graduate of the Collin's Career Center Police Academy.
Sgt. McGraw began his law enforcement career with the Lawrence County Sheriff's Office, where he served as both a jailer and road patrol deputy. He later joined the Ironton Police Department as a patrol officer and was promoted to Detective, leading the Drug Investigation Unit, before earning the rank of Sergeant. He also served as an investigator with the Lawrence County Drug and Major Crime Task Force, where he played a significant role in securing homicide and felony convictions.
