Crosswalk and pedestrian safety improvements are happening throughout the City of Powell. Some of the work has already occurred, with more happening later this year.

Many of the improvements include the addition of flashing beacons at pedestrian crosswalks, which when activated, increase visibility of pedestrians looking to cross the roadway.

Other improvements add 20MPH flashing school zone signs to help remind motorists to slow down during school start and release times. These are the first flashing school zone signs installed in the City of Powell.

Recently completed crosswalk improvements:

  • New flashing beacons added at the Seldom Seen Road bike path crossing next to the railroad
  • Upgraded crossing with flashing beacons added at Steitz Road at Harold Drive
  • New school zone flashers at S. Liberty Street
  • New school zone flashers at Salisbury Drive

Upcoming crosswalk improvements:

  • Upgraded crossing with new flashing beacons at S. Liberty Street
  • New flashing beacons at Hall Street (funded through ODOT HSIP Abbreviated Safety Funding Program)
  • New flashing beacons at Depot Street (funded through ODOT HSIP Abbreviated Safety Funding Program)
