Bike Registration

Found Property

The Powell Police Department frequently receives items of value that have been left behind at various locations within the City. Items are kept for a period of six months; if not claimed in that time, the items will be auctioned or destroyed per City Policy and Procedures Section 84.1.7. Please call 614.885.5005, opt. 2, to make an appointment to retrieve your found property.

Golf Cart (Underspeed Vehicle) Inspection

An underspeed vehicle is described as a four-wheeled vehicle, other than a truck, that is either originally designed and constructed with a top attainable speed of 20 MPH or less, or is not originally designed and constructed for operation on a street or highway. Most golf carts fall under this description. There are several requirements that must be met in order to legally operate an underspeed vehicle on the roadways of the City of Powell. The police department offers an underspeed vehicle inspection to ensure that your underspeed vehicle is properly equipped to drive on Powell's roadways.

When you have completed all the requirements on the Certificate, you can request an inspection by calling the Delaware County Communications Center at 614.885.3374.

If you are not a Powell resident, the cart must be taken by a trailer to the Powell Police Department for inspection between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. weekdays. There is a $10 fee for non-residents.

Police Department Public Records

Public records from the Police Department may be requested through the Police Clerk. The City of Powell maintains many records used in the administration and operation of the City. The records of the City of Powell and the ability to access them are a means to provide trust between the public and the City.

Requests for records may be made in person between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. weekdays, by phone, fax or online through the link below. A written request is not required but will help staff facilitate the request for public records. Refusal to complete a request form does not impair the requestor's right to inspect and/or receive copies of the public record. (O.R.C. 149.43 (B) (5))

For additional information, please contact a Powell Police Clerk, at 614.885.5005, ext. 0.
