Events Coordinator

Job Type: Part-Time
Salary: $25.00 – $30.00 an hour

Work Hours: 25 hours a week with evening and weekend hours required based on event needs

The City of Powell is seeking a dynamic and creative Events Coordinator to join our Parks and Recreation team. This part-time position is responsible for planning, organizing, and executing a variety of community events, including festivals, concerts, parades, and other recreational activities. The Events Coordinator will work closely with various departments to ensure events are successful, safe, and enjoyable for all attendees.

Police Officer

Job Type: Full-Time
Salary: $76,078.46 – $109,984.63 in 2025-  top out pay for current contract at $117,715.83 in 2026

The City of Powell is seeking dedicated and motivated individuals to join our law enforcement team. We are currently accepting applications for both lateral and uncertified Police Officer positions. Whether you’re an experienced, certified peace officer or new to the field, Powell offers a supportive and dynamic environment where you can build a rewarding career.

Applicants who are currently certified Peace Officers are eligible to start at a higher wage step at the discretion of the Chief of Police and will accrue vacation time at a higher rate with an 18% increase in compensation over the life of the contract.

Starting in 2025 schedules will move to twelve (12) Hour Shifts with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off every other week or eight (8) Hour Shifts with one (1) weekend day off each week.

Lateral Applicants: Current police officers looking for a new challenge and environment are encouraged to apply. We offer competitive compensation and benefits, along with opportunities for career advancement. No test is required for applicants currently certified as a Patrol Officer.

Uncertified Applicants: If you have a passion for serving your community and are ready to start your career in law enforcement, this is your chance. Full training through a certified police academy will be provided to successful candidates

Charter Review Commission

The Charter Review Commission is comprised of members of Powell City Council, City of Powell resident, and members of City staff to review the Powell City Charter and make recommendations for changes. The City Charter is the governing constitution for the City of Powell and the Commission will recommend changes to the Charter that will be passed by the City Council and placed on a ballot for a vote of the public.

The members are appointed by Council and will meet on a set number of meetings to be determined at a later date by the Commission.

Community Reinvestment Area (CRA) Housing Council

The CRA Housing Council shall make an annual inspection of the properties within the district for which an exemption has been granted under Section 3735.67 of the ORC. The Housing Council shall also hear appeals under Section 3735.70 of the ORC.
