Planning and Zoning Commission

About the Commission

The Planning and Zoning Commission (P&Z) serves as the primary reviewing body for development and is comprised of seven (7) members. The members, appointed by City Council, serve four-year terms. The Planning and Zoning Commission makes recommendations to Council on a variety of development-related issues as well as amendments to Zoning Code. The Commission meets the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at City Hall.

Application Procedures

Please consult the Development Department before submitting any applications. This ensures that the department is aware of the application and that all application requirements have been met. Once the completed application form is received, it is reviewed by development department staff and the resulting analysis is provided to the P&Z for their consideration before making a decision.

Development in Planned Districts typically go through a sketch plan, preliminary plan, and then final plan review. However, combined preliminary and final plan reviews can be arranged if plan submittal criteria is met. At each step in the process, the applicant must do their best to address staff, P&Z, and public concerns or questions.
