City of Powell, Powell Community Improvement Corporation Launch Small Business Grant Program to Provide Covid-19 Relief

Eligible small businesses can receive a grant of up to $10,000 to offset COVID-19 expenses

(POWELL, Ohio) – November 6, 2020 – Today, the City of Powell and Powell Community Improvement Corporation (CIC) announced the launch of the first-ever Powell Small Business Grant Program as part of the “Together Strong, Together Powell” initiative.

Deploying $200,000 in CARES Act funding, the Small Business Grant Program will help Powell businesses offset some of the financial impact of COVID-19.

“Powell’s small businesses have always been at the heart of our community. Now more than ever, they need our help,” said City Manager Andrew White. “The Small Business Grant Program is part of the City of Powell’s promise to stand together with local businesses and give them the support and resources they need.”

Small businesses within the City of Powell, with 25 or fewer employees, that have been impacted by COVID-19 business closures or restrictions can apply for a grant of up to $10,000 to reimburse eligible costs. Examples include:

• Rent or mortgage payments that were missed in whole or part as a direct result of the Stay-at-Home Orders between March 23 and May 15.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Equipment to extend the outdoor dining season including patio heaters, tents, etc.
• Materials and equipment to allow for safe and distanced shopping and dining including barriers, signage, etc.

Applications will be accepted from November 6, 2020 through December 6, 2020 and will be approved on a first come, first serve rolling basis. For full eligibility requirements and application information, visit here.
