Powell City Council appointed members to the Citizen Financial Review Task Force during their Jan. 2 meeting. The Task Force will hold their first meeting of the year later this month at the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.
As of Jan. 1, 2018, the Delaware General Health District will be issuing all plumbing permits and performing all plumbing inspections in the City of Powell. The Health District began issuing plumbing permits for Liberty Township on Dec. 4, 2017.
The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department is adding more camps and programs for this spring and summer. Express, in-person registration for residents is from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 12 at the City’s Municipal Building, 47 Hall Street. Online registration for residents begins Thursday, April 13 and starts for non-residents on Friday, April 14.
In 2016, the Police Department went through the Gold Standard assessment and was awarded with the Meritorious Advanced Accreditation for Law Enforcement with Excellence during CALEA’s conference on Saturday, March 25.
The Powell Police Department is searching for a burglary suspect. The burglary happened at approximately 12:50 p.m. Friday, March 3 on Charles Spring Drive.

The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) is closing SR 315 south of SR 750 to Jewett Road Monday, Jan. 23 for three weeks for tree clearing and utility relocation. SR 315 closes north of SR 750 to Retreat Lane for 3 1/2 months beginning Monday, Jan. 30 for wall construction. Both directions of SR 750 will remain OPEN during construction.
The proposed Keep Powell Moving Downtown Powell Street System & Circulation Plan is slated to go before Powell City Council during their Tuesday, Nov. 1 meeting. The meeting is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.
A team of assessors from CALEA will begin their evaluation of the Powell Police Department on Monday, Oct. 24. As part of the assessment, agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session at 5 p.m. Wednesday Oct. 26 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.
