Candy by the Carload set for Oct. 29

The City of Powell is hosting the annual Candy by the Carload event from 4-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29 in the Municipal Building Parking Lot, located at 47 Hall Street.

The parking lot will be transformed into a place for guests to trick or treat. Local businesses and organizations will set up booths and car trunks filled with candy, toys and other Halloween goodies.

New this year, guests are invited to bring canned food items to benefit the People In Need, Inc. of Delaware County Food Pantry.

Parking is available in the south grassy lot of Village Green Park or public spaces in downtown Powell.

‘Paint the Plow’ contest work featured at Candy by the Carload
The City of Powell Parks & Recreation Department has invited local elementary schools to paint City of Powell snow plow blades with original Columbus Blue Jackets inspired artwork.

Snow plow blades will be on display at this year’s Candy by the Carload event. Guests at the event will vote for their favorite snow plow blade based on canned food donations. The Columbus Blue Jackets will be providing prize packs for the winning school. Winners will be announced Monday, Oct. 30.
