Powell City Council adopted the 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP) during Tuesday’s meeting.

The CIP is a major piece of the budget that details the projects the City plans to work on for the next five years. The approved CIP proposes $54.6 million in spending from 2025 to 2029 with $14 million dedicated to spending in 2025.

“Powell’s success relies on the infrastructure and services provided by the City,” said Powell City Manager Andy White. “These capital investments in streets, parks, police, and other infrastructure will improve our community.”

This year’s CIP featured 23 projects. Some of the most notable include:

  • $2.8 million for the annual street maintenance and repair program.
  • $2.4 million to extend Scioto Street from Liberty Street to Grace Drive and construct a new public parking lot.
  • $2.1 million for the reconstruction of North Depot Street from Olentangy Street to Case Avenue that includes new sidewalks, paved parking, street lighting, roadway drainage, and more.
  • $1.3 million to renovate the Lechler Building
  • $650,000 to expand parking at Adventure Park.
  • $500,000 for the Village Green Master Plan
  • $250,000 to rehabilitate the Adventure Park CSX railroad tunnel.
  • $170,000 to connect the shared-use path on the east side of Liberty Road to the existing path on the west side of Murphy Parkway.
