Starting on Tuesday, March 28th, demolition of the building located at 35 N Liberty Street will begin. The demolition process will take a couple of days with an additional estimated two weeks for the removal of debris and clearing of the site. Scioto Street and Hall Street, adjacent to the site, will be closed during the actual demolition. Please see the traffic detour plan for details on traffic rerouting during this time.
This demolition was made possible through a grant from the Ohio Department of Development’s Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program. The funds were created as part of the 2021 state biennium budget bill in House Bill 110. In total, 825 structures were awarded grant funding in 30 of Ohio’s 88 Counties. Delaware County received $500,000 dollars for a total of five projects in the cities of Delaware, Sunbury and Powell; and in Scioto Township.
As a reminder, no local tax dollars were spent as part of the grant funding. The final bid was awarded to Watson General Contracting for $59,250.
