Second Keep Powell Moving Workshop slated for Aug. 30

(POWELL, Ohio)—Aug. 17, 2016—The City of Powell is holding a second Keep Powell Moving Public Workshop from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.

The City is putting the Comprehensive Plan into action with the Keep Powell Moving initiative. The initiative launched this year and is focused on improving traffic circulation, adding parking and increasing walkability and bicycling in downtown Powell.

“Our most recent Community Attitudes Survey shows that while six out of ten people believe Powell is an exceptional place to live, only one resident in three is satisfied with managing local traffic,” said City Manager Steve Lutz. “Traffic has dramatically increased over the years and we know the community is frustrated. We are working with residents and businesses to identify longer-range improvements, like adding more cross-streets, sidewalks and parking.”

Powell City Council approved the Comprehensive Plan in late 2015. Five out of ten guiding principles of the Comprehensive Plan focus on downtown, the Olentangy and Liberty Street intersection, and traffic concerns.

The workshop will continue the discussion on new ways to get around downtown Powell, review refined plans based on feedback from the community and outline next steps.
