Powell launches new website for Comprehensive Plan update

(POWELL, Ohio)—Jan. 5, 2015—The City of Powell is launching a new website (planpowell.mindmixer.com) dedicated to the Comprehensive Plan update process.

The site is intended to provide a new and easier way for residents to get involved in the planning process. Comments can be provided at any time using mobile phones, tablets or computers. Weekly questions will be posted on the website for users to respond to and the site allows users to interact with others.

“Public participation is vital to the success of the Plan update,” said David Betz, development director. “We hope the community will use the site to provide feedback on parts of the Plan and feel connected to the project.”

A public workshop will be held from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 5 in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street. Members of the public can provide input on the Plan, ask questions and get an inside look at the Comprehensive Plan update process. Registration is not required for the event.

The Comprehensive Plan will be updated over the next several months and will address topics such as traffic, zoning, annexation, downtown revitalization, taxes/funding sustainability and economic development. The project is expected to conclude in the fourth quarter of 2015.

A Comprehensive Plan steering committee was formed in June, 2014 and meets monthly with consultants and discusses updates to the Plan. This committee is comprised of residents, business owners, members of City Council and the Planning and Zoning Commission, and staff. Steering committee meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m. in the Municipal Building Council Chambers, 47 Hall Street.
