Parks & Recreation

Parks & Recreation

The Parks & Recreation Department strives to create community through people, parks and programs. We are proud to offer a place for you and your family to play, learn, create and imagine.

There are more than 200 diverse year-round recreational, leisure and education programs and activities throughout the City’s parks and facilities. The City encourages you to play, ride or stride on our interconnected trail system and enjoy the acres of open space preserved throughout Powell.

Powell features more than 12 miles of trails and approximately 85 acres of park land, offering numerous opportunities for walking, wildlife viewing, jogging or simply enjoying the outdoors. Our shared pathways and parks are special points of pride and we hope you use this guide to help you plan your next route through our community, or to explore the open spaces and natural areas that make Powell a special place to live. And no matter which path you’re on, you’re always close to home in Powell.

Powell Community Garden

The City in partnership with the Kiwanis Club of Powell is launching the new Powell Community Garden in Arbor Ridge Park.

A $5,000 grant was awarded to the Powell Club from the Kiwanis International Foundation to help make the dream of a community garden a reality. The Club will be utilizing one of the garden beds to raise food to donate to local food pantries.

How do you register for a garden bed?

A limited number of 4 x 8 raised garden beds will be available for rent at Arbor Ridge Park. Rental of a raised garden bed will initially be limited to one garden bed per family. The garden beds can be rented for late spring through the late fall growing season. Organic gardening practices only will be permitted at the garden (no non-organic fertilizer, herbicide or pesticide applications allowed).

Register for a garden bed in the new Powell Community Garden by visiting the City’s Municipal Building, located at 47 Hall Street. Registration begins Wednesday, April 15. The cost is $30 for residents and $60 for non-residents.
