Greater Powell Veterans Memorial

The Greater Powell Veterans Memorial Foundation was formed after a local soldier was killed in action in Iraq and members of the Powell community wanted a way to remember him and all veterans as well as express gratitude for their sacrifice.

As they say “all gave some, some gave all”.

The Memorial was built to honor all veterans past, present and future and is a place of reflection and remembrance.

Work on the Memorial began in the summer of 2004. The designer of the Memorial is a WWII Veteran and the work was by Columbus Art Memorial, under the direction of the Greater Powell Veterans Memorial Foundation.

Ceremonies are held three times during each year at the Memorial. Bricks that are purchased are dedicated on Memorial Day in May after the parade or on Veterans Day in November. Liberty Township Fire Department holds a ceremony on 9/11 each year to recognize first responders.
